Karnataka Dissidents Play at Prolongation

After Ragavendra Rao, Vital Rao and Narayan Rao, Dr. Shyam Rao assures the relay of a teaching of  Sahaj Marg which is faithful to the memory of Babuji, in direct opposition to that of Chari.

Here's what I wrote two years ago about these disciples of Babuji:

" Karnataka is rich in old preceptors: [Beside the full preceptor, Ragavendra Rao from Raichur] at Gulbarga,  full preceptor Narayan Rao, born circa 1922 still continues to teach, while Dr. Rao Shiam steps back over time.  In Bangalore, the former judge of the High Court of Justice, the full preceptor Vital Rao, affectionately known as the Judge, also continues teaching despite his age (he was born around 1924)."

According to the latest news, Dr. Rao Shiam (or Shyam Rao Sham Rao or Shamarao ) is not as inactive as it seems. He is the new guru (Baba) of SRCM Karnataka, Gulbarga branch, dissenting from the SRCM of Chari. For legal reasons and to avoid legal troubles, he renamed it: the "Turning Point ." Here is what he said on June 18, 2013:

Welcome to the Turning Point

What is the meaning & significance of Mission Branch Gulbarga?

It simply means the SRCM in miniature. Under the prevailing situation, the Centre mere intense (merely intends to?) expand its area of influence all over the jurisdiction of Karnataka, Maharashtra & Andhra. In other words it is how we maintain the link with the Organisation. It stands for spreading the ideology of our Mission without any deviation. Many abhyasis under this Centre or at present residing at different places. They shall begin to take up the work among the relatives, friends, near ones at their respective places. Therefore, it becomes imperative to get ourselves fully prepared within the duration at our disposal.(…)”

The main people responsible for this branch exchange information on the web at:

In a more general way, Chari has never managed to extinguish the dissident factions of Sahaj Marg. His nightmare of an exploded SRCM is fully realized. The only thing he was able to impose on his rivals, is to no longer use the terms of "his" Sahaj Marg(tm) and the Shri Ram Chandra Mission (California-1997) ...

The Indian Diaspora of Full Preceptors and Senior Preceptors

Professor of philosophy and now retired, S.P. Srivastava, taught yogic sciences at the University of Lakhimpur ( Uttar Pradesh, India).  His meeting with Babuji dates from 1948 to 1949.  After the death of Babuji, he chaired the Interim Working Committee of the SRCM Shahjahanpur from 1984 to 1994.  Since then, wanting to abolish the boundary between the so-called hard sciences, yoga and spirituality, he created an association, the Belgian branch of which was named: Shri Ram Chandra Memorial International Society Promoting Spirituality As A Science ( INSPSAAS )Kasturi accuses him of making himself  the president.

Opposed to Chari, the full preceptors,  Ragavendra Rao and Ramachandra Reddy accompanied the son of Babuji, Umesh Chandra Saxena, on his tour of the United States in 1981.  Later, Ragavendra Rao abandoned the place he occupied since 1984 on the Working Committee of the SRCM since the departure of  S.P. Srivastava. Until the end of his life in the spring of 2006, he stayed in his ashram at Raichur in Karnataka, where he taught Sahaj Marg to all those who visited him. Chari's armed henchmen immediately seized his ashram with the complicity of the police. Shortly after, Suresh Kumar Makam created a blog in his memory : http://makamsureshkumar.blogspot.com

Karnataka is rich in old faithful Babuji preceptors. In 2010, full preceptors still pursued their teaching, very independently of Chari: in Gulbarga, Narayan Rao ( born circa 1922 ), and in Bangalore Vital Rao ( born circa 1924), affectionately known as "the Judge" because he was a former judge of the High Court justice.

And still in Gulbarga, Dr. Rao Shiam (or Shyam Rao Sham Rao or Shamarao), takes over from the old preceptors in 2013.  Unable to keep the term "branch of SRCM in Karnataka",  and to avoid a legal battle with the SRCM of Chari, he renamed it: "Turning Point Bangalore".

Ramachandra Reddy meanwhile, also abandoned his place on the working committee and returned to Cuddapah in Andhra Pradesh. This full preceptor creates Chandraji Maharaj Shri Ram Seva Trust, a separate structure to distinct from the Mission (of Chari) to avoid any legal dispute, and teaches Sahaj Marg until his death in 2008.  This structure is currently headed by lawyer, T.V. Srinivasa Rao.  Jogarao, a very old preceptor, born about 1913, died the previous year (2007) in Hyderabad.

In this vast diaspora of the disciples of Babuji, there is also Chillapa Satyanarayana, known as Swamiji, who manages from Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, an institute called IUSCM (Institute of Universal Self Conciousness Movement  www.iuscm.com ). The retired university professor in agriculture has "seeded" (the teachings) around himself in his profession, and in the Pacific Ocean region, mainly in Australia where there are several ashrams.  His spiritual path is Sahaja Yoga Raja Marga Gruhastha Dhyana Ashram ( SMRYDGA ), which follows the precept of " Marjalla Niti " . It is essentially based on the concept of universal consciousness, which he tries to theorize into a nice mathematical formula.
