Messianic Sahaj Marg

Messianic Sahaj Marg

Is Sahaj Marg a messianic movement waving an impending doomsday?

Messianism is the belief in the coming of a savior messiah, a liberator savior or a redeemer who will end the present order which is considered "bad" and establish a new order in justice and happiness, hence the advent of an ideal world on earth.

Many religions have a messiah concept, such as the Jewish Messiah, the Christ of Christianity, the Mahdi in Islam, the Hindu Kalki Avatar and the Buddhist Maitreya.

The Messianic (religions) with utopian nature carry a fundamental hope, that of a renewal of the world in the sense of human happiness, justice and peace.  Yet, they have led to all kinds of violence in the name of a new order to be built - willingly or by force.

Messianic violence feeds on the matched certainty of the demands of an absolute, which is known with certainty. But what is this absolute? And what certainty? Absolute is that which escapes the limits and relativity, and which can not be identified with any particular cause (or reason?) whatsoever. Any power that self-legitimates on the basis of an absolute - whether good, truth, nation, religion or prosperity - exploits to its circumstantial advantage what belongs by definition to beyond the provisional. This is the root of totalitarianism.

There is here a travesty of the absolute which religions call "God", idolatry leads to limit freedom and undermine community life.   Religions themselves have often yielded to this tendency by claiming (and demanding) a blind submission, on behalf of a divine right to authority.

With Whispers from the Brighter World, Sahaj Marg is clearly positioned on the messianic and totalitarian path. According to (them?) Medium (s), Babuji and the Hierarchy of the great saints advocate seeking for a divine absolute order. This absolute is conditioned by the arrival of a kind of Apocalypse that will sweep the world of today, with no other discernment than membership to Sahaj Marg or not.

"Here is the real goal to reach, everything else is ephemeral, with no real reason. One day, the real purpose of life is emerging and binding in all logic. Suffice then to stick to it and to appreciate it so. So many people in this world wander aimlessly, unaware even that there may be another place where the most important exist. Darkness persist on this Earth, we act in order to bring humans to this collective awareness, leading them to understand that to do is to truly change the world. "(Whisper of 18 March 2015)

Patel's Sahaj Marg (more...)

Translation of an article by Alexis: "Le Sahaj Marg de Patel (la suite)", on Élodie's blog in Europe: Pour Que Vive Le Sahaj Marg

Patel's Sahaj Marg (more ...)

News: The Patel Inflection

Sahaj Marg - Between Change and Continuity

“The visit to France and the gatherings in New Jersey have already brought about many changes in the functioning of the Mission.(…)
He later met with around 150 prefects from North America, where he mentioned some of the new changes the Hierarchy of Masters have permitted in the Mission, as have also been indicated in recent messages from the Brighter World.(…)”

After his travels in France and the USA, Kamlesh Patel made his first trip to India. Where?  To Hyderabad, from March 6th to 9th, he went to the "Thumkunta ashram, ashram BHEL, Kanha website of the project".

What did he say or do special?

A new call for unity:

“(…) our beloved Masters want to see unity among us. We should do everything to maintain unity, harmony and peace.”

The confirmation of a changing role for preceptors authorized by the "Hierarchy from the Brighter World" to do more work with a new method:

“(…) Later in the day, there was a very lively interaction with a group of eighty-five preceptors. It was largely focused on preceptors’ work. Master emphasised that the Hierarchy has given us the permission to do more work. All need to use it wisely. The new methods are in addition to the regular work all preceptors have been doing. The whole session was informal and focused on the practical aspects of when and how to use the new methods. There was a great deal of enthusiasm among preceptors about the new possibilities for growth.(…)”

All this is told in the "Abhyasi Bulletin", a new formulation of the old "Sahaj Sandesh", which ends with these three words: "Accept, Cooperate and obey."

Is this the formula to replace Chari's  "Serve and Obey"?

To complete the article above, this was added as a comment by Claude on Elodie's blog.  This is taken from the "Abhyasi Bulletin" Mar. 16, 2015.

The addition of Claude (Abhyasis bulletin 2015.22 du 16 mars 2015):

In February of 2015, respected Kamlesh bhai announced that the Hierarchy of Masters of Sahaj Marg has enabled preceptors worldwide with new responsibilities, in order to better facilitate the growth of the Mission.

These new permissions do not replace the existing practices of face-to-face individual, group and introductory sittings. Instead, they are an additional way of working, required for the increasing expansion of the Mission worldwide.

The following changes are a result:

1. New seekers are welcome to join a group meditation, without first having to take separate introductory sittings.

2. Seekers can be introduced to the practice of Sahaj Marg in groups on consecutive days if individual introductions are not possible.

3. Preceptors can give individual sittings to groups of abhyasis at one time.

4. Preceptors can give individual sittings remotely when required. Remote sittings can be given only if the preceptor confirms just beforehand that the abhyasi is available and both sit at the same time.

5. Preceptors can conduct group sittings remotely in cases where no local preceptor is available, or where conditions are really too difficult to attend, e.g. bad weather. They can also include those abhyasis who are unable to attend in person for genuine reasons in the satsang.

Care and wisdom are needed with our newfound freedom. For example, respected Kamlesh bhai said recently, "It should not become a scenario of, 'Oh, brother, I would like to have a long distance individual sitting now,' even though that person is less than a kilometre away. No. That is what I call abusing the system. So be careful. The greater the freedom that has been given to us, the greater the responsibilities are on our shoulders.”

Preceptors have been permitted to give remote sittings when there are genuine requests, and not in instances where it would defy the spiritual culture, e.g. when an abhyasi wishes to avoid taking a sitting from a local preceptor they do not like, as this would lead to disharmony. Unity and brotherhood remain the culture of Sahaj Marg.

Sahaj Marg: Perfection Against Chaos?

Translation of an article by Élodie: "Sahaj Marg: Perfection Contre le Chaos", on her blog in Europe: Pour Que Vive Le Sahaj Marg.

March 8, 2015

Sahaj Marg: Perfection Against Chaos

The abhyasis are apparently the wise on their way to perfection. They criticize anyone or anything. These are the (self?) Righteous, representatives of Good against Evil.

Every day a message from "out there" reminds them of  "the inherent ugliness of the human race," that the world is on the edge (of the abyss? ... of the chasm?), and the abhyasis (disciples) of Sahaj Marg will be saved by making them "save their precious time".

The result: Patel's (and the Mission's)  adepts (fanatics?) are convinced of their superiority.

Everything is bad, nothing finds grace (is good?) in their eyes. Sahaj Marg is no longer defined except by its opposition to the (material?) world that surrounds it.  Having become a spirituality (or a "spiritualism"?) empty of content, it cannot be defined other than by criticizing the world from which it vainly tries to cut itself off.

The abhyasis do not criticize anyone or anything, they reject it ALL in block.

To oppose the spiritual to the material, the heart to the mind, the abhyasi (believer?)  to the miscreant (unbeliever?), the SRCM to the world, or the Good to the Evil, is to sacrifice to simplicism, (it is) to abandon pluralism and tolerance.

They are the Gentility, we are the wicked miscreants (the unbelievers?).

The values of Sahaj Marg are pride, narcissism and Manichaeism.
