The Purpose of Life

Talk given by Master on 18th of March, 2009 at Raipur, India

So I pray for all of you. I pray for myself too, that having got this golden opportunity of life on earth as a human being, the great gift of being born in the time of Babuji Maharaj, Lalaji Maharaj as the case may have been, and the ultimate gift of having been accepted by them as abhyasis, we don't falter, we don't look here or there. (Both Baubji and Lalaji said to take what you can from the Master and if you need more, look elsewhere) You know every ghoda gaadi [horse-drawn carriage] in Uttar Pradesh, or Madhya Pradesh, they have these blinkers so that the horse cannot look this side or that side. Unfortunately God did not put blinkers on our eyes! He made us free - we can turn our heads, we can look here and there, look up, and look down. In giving us this freedom, we have destroyed our purpose in life. (not true ... To be FREE means that anyone can decide for one's self and leave a "bad guru" and find another Guru, or we can even realize the ONE by ourselves. The Pine tree does not have to become the FIR tree to be at ONE with the DIVINE.)

We have these five senses called panchendriyas. They are meant merely to guide us: go left, go right, avoid danger, go back. Touch - this is hot, reject. Taste - it's poison, throw it out. But we have converted our senses into pleasure seeking instruments, and therein lies the fall of mankind. (We have not "converted our senses", our senses are "gifts" to use wisely and not to curse as this guru wants you to do. Be grateful for your "senses". There is no "sense" in the "non-sense" of this GURU. Mankind is not "fallen"... and does not need a "Saviour" or Messiah. That is a "Christian" (religious) concept, a myth, and it is not "Raja Yoga) The fall of Adam and Eve was not pleasure. (That story is a religious MYTH ... there were no "Adam and Eve". We all experience pleasure and that is "GOOD". Please don't use the myths of religions that you call "corrupt" to make "spiritual" points of "become aware of REALITY") It was knowledge! (wrong... that myth is about "EGO" (I was a Christian) ... Some religious fanatics (not the mythic Adam and Eve... the story is more recent than that and the story was not written by them) started thinking (as they do now) that they could decide (with ego, power, not knowledge) for the tribe, what was right or wrong. The "powers", gained by "disobedience" to those claiming to represent God, or allegeldy of knowing better or more" than the ONE (ego) what was right or wrong, was, according to the mythic "talking snake" (Satan?) was to become "godly" or equal to GOD, (ego) and then have power over one another, and over their future families, friends, and enemies. Plus "the talking snake" promised that eating the fruit of the tree would "not lead to death", and/or they would be immortal (as God...ego). That is the ego that the mythic (storybook) Adam and Eve and hence mankind fell into ... (See "Adam and Eve" and other myths here or here)

In the same Christian Bible, Joshua stopped the sun so the battle (war) could go on... is that TRUE? Get REAL!! Does anyone know of any records of the "sun stopping". Is it not the earth's spin that gives us a 24 hour day? OOPS!!

If it was knowledge that Mankind desired historically, we would have evolved in KNOWLEDGE ... we seem to have evolved in EGO (seeking POWER), and we still shun true knowledge. Those who use their heads are still not paid as those who appeal to the ego or the emotional "heart" (entertainment, fantasy, fictions, movies, sports, nationalism, imperialism, religion, etc...)

Now we will have to face it. The TIME is at hand. The same kind of religious fanatics, and pseudo-Gurus still think they can "pray us into peace", "spin the world", "give the Universe", and "destroy part of the Cosmos" (Chari) ... but they can't... it is just EGO and megalomania. They think they can divide and conquer and then sell UNITY. They think they can insult other religions and "attack" with violence the "ashrams of others" and then sell PEACE (see the 9 o'clock prayer). They think they can make "megalomaniacal claims" and then sell HUMILITY. Well, we now have the INTERNET... THANK the ONE GOD!!

If one wants peace, then they should live in PEACE... If one wants UNITY, then they should not join a group that DIVIDES (as most groups do). If one wants "EGO-lessness" and a humble society, then they should live in humility and without EGO... not like the Masters of SAHAJ MARG paving our "natural paradise" to build another "parking lot" (as in the Canadian Joni Michelle song), where in their lack of knowledge, and full of "ego" and divided one against the other, they can go and find their "male" GOD (...or the gods of division, violence and war.) If you read carefully, you will know why they were evicted from the Garden of Eden. Because they ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The moment we started distinguishing good and evil in God's creation, we have betrayed God in the sense that God created no evil - we have created evil. Therefore we are punished; therefore we are condemned until we can again come to a state, spiritual state, a state of existence where there is no more either good or bad. Sukhaduhkha same krutvaa - make both pleasure and pain the same. (Wow! Does this "Master"?? ever make things up! WE are SPIRIT, MIND, ENERGY and MATTER and many live with "both wings" (or all wings) as per the advice of most Masters.

The Garden of Eden is a Judeo-Christian religious myth, a fantasy and not a REAL place. There is no "tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil". Find such a tree and show it to us. If there is evil, it exists in the MIND of MAN. We (through the religious elite) have created Evil in our MIND. We are FREE... and we can, in our mind, call disease or the exploding volcano or the raging flood "EVIL", but that does not make it so. WE, Mankind, are not PUNISHED or "condemned" by the ONE or the Creator ... Things just happen, and then the religious profiteers make their "prophetic claims" in their self-serving bids to be "financed" or "supported" by the broader community. That Fear and Temptation mechanism is "corrupt" religion, and it seems to be what Sahaj Marg has become. That religious manipulation is what we must grow out of, so as to finally become adults and finally begin to UNITE in Peace, using our HEAD (brain), with its powers of REASON, and LOGIC to think ... not the emotional heart (another myth) , or the reality that is the heart as a Pump for Blood. (the slavish pump does not think, but is controlled by the "nerve centre", the brain.)

For you there is nothing good, nothing bad. (For all of us...but only relatively! ) There is only the straight path on which you go, following the footsteps of your guru who is going ahead of you, and reaching the goal not by your effort, but by merely following. (Another fantasy... One's re-action is from one's own actions, not from someone else's actions. Karma is not to be TOYED with by the arrogant pseudo-gurus and corrupt religious "priests", and their claims of "erasing samskaras" or "forgiving sins" or "liberating" and "saving" others) This should not be difficult. If you are asked to find out the way, to avoid the thorns, all that sort of nonsense, you are put to test. "Which is my way? There are so many ways. Raah dikhao prabhu, nainheen ko raah dikhao prabhu. [O Lord, show this blind man the way.]" A song I heard in Soordas long ago, when I was a schoolboy in Jabalpur. Ham na nainheen hain - we are not blind. Nor are we mleccha [outcast] - we have a (self appointed... divisive, violent) guru. Keval hamen aankhen isliye dee gayi hain [We have been given eyes solely for this purpose] - I see the guru, my ears are given to me to listen to the guru, and my feet are given to me to walk behind him. I pray for you all and for myself that, may this be our last life on earth, however long it may last. Because I find that as I grow [older] day by day, I wish I had not lived so long, and that I did not have to live longer. (Dream on... Eternal means that there is no Beginning and no END. We, as LIFE, will go ROUND and ROUND... no GOAL... NO END...no religious heaven, no Spirilual myth of one "Brighter World", but many more "brilliant" levels of existence to experience. We, our consciousness, is not only carbon or Matter, but we are also LIGHT and MIND, and SPIRIT... Some REALIZE all of them! The Whole REALITY. The Whole SHE-Bang! )

I told Babuji one day in Shahjahanpur, I think it was in 1968 or '69. He congratulated me and said, "Now you are liberated." (Another fantasy... Don't believe it... if you believe that, then so am I "LIBERATED" and so are we all ... Words are cheap! Read Babuji's last letters regarding Chari! ) I said, "Babuji, why don't you take me up immediately, simultaneously?" (That is smart!! NOT... Let all your disciples be ready to leave their "life" as in that "made up" story. Chari is alive. Babuji did not and could not take anyone with him. Don't become like that! That is a fantasy and not REALITY! ) He said, "Why do you ask for that?" I said, "The longer I live, the more I am subject to temptation, and the possibility of fall." (Becaue you gave in to the MATERIAL... we did not...) You see, life is a danger. (Wrong... life is a pleasure also, an exciting and a calm place, a place to do good also, a place to learn, grow, share, be grateful, etc... etc.. Give us a break... use your head for the Love of Babuji!! ) Every day you live longer, there is the renewed danger of a fall: some temptation here, some stupidity there, some lack of faith. Somebody has something at home; "Oh, how can your Master allow this to happen? Why is your Master so cruel?" (Would you teach the "children" to desire to "not live" because it is too "dangerous"? What a "cruel joke". You are preaching to "old men and old women". Let the children live in hope, charity, gratefulness... in other words, leave them alone with your "negative" myths and legends. Life will go on with or without you!! )

We do not know that the play of life and death is in Divine hands. (WE DO... DO YOU?) Yeh drama hai [This is a drama]. But we go and we have [conditional] faith; we say, "Only as long as things are good for us..." Child married-God is great. Son promoted-God is great. Bahurani aa gayi bade khaandaan se [A daughter-in-law has come from a wealthy family]-God is even greater. Baccha paida hua aur voh bhi baalak? Arre vaah! Kaise khuda hamare. Nahin? [A child has been born, and that too, a boy? Wonderful! What a great God we have. Isn't it?] And suddenly some bad news: that compound wall toot gaya makaan ka. Arre bhai, yeh kaise ho sakta hai? Kaise mumkin hai ki jub ham shishya kain unke, ham itni bhakti rakhte hain unke prati, shraddha rakhte hain. Yeh kaisa mumkin hai? Guru mein kucch na kucch truti hai. Chhod do, chalo aur anya sanstha mein chalte hain. [The compound wall of our house has broken. Oh, how could this have happened? How is it possible when I am his disciple, and I have so much faith and devotion for him? (In Sahaj Marg, one is the disciple of a man ( "his") not of the ONE (ITS). If in Sahaj Marg, the adepts think that nothing will happen to them that is relatively "bad" then they live in a "fool's paradise". They, and even their Master will die one day. ) There is some shortcoming in the guru. Leave him. Let us join a different system.] I have heard this a thousand times. (Good IDEA! Some people want to THINK for themselves ... and hence to leave a bad GURU... "Midstream, change horse!", is the new philosophy!) [It's] something bad in their opinion. (that is not bad in their opinion ... it is bad in the guru's opinion. What is bad, is continuing to have faith and devotion in a bad guru) You see, suppose you eat useless stuff at night, next morning you are going to have stomach trouble. "Nahin, nahin [No, no], if God is great, why should I have trouble? He only created it." "Arre, daaru peeke aaye… [But you drank alcohol…]" (You, the bad GURU, fed them POISON ... Division, violence, no love, no forgiveness. Their mind has been poisoned. They are not allowed to THINK with their HEAD!!) "But God only created all these beautiful things for our enjoyment." All right, try it. God can wait. (You can't speak for or make idle "veiled" threats to others for the ONE, what you call your "male" Gothic "GOD"... Soon no one will care!! and pity the "Phoney Guru".)

So don't test God or the guru. (Babuji and most true "GURUS", say to test the GURU... and not just "once" but all the TIME. I will question the ONE all the TIME ... It is not a "test" but a "relationship" between CREATOR and a participant in the CREATION) Don't evaluate your faith. (wrong!! How silly!! ) Don't pretend to know what their love is by what happens to you. (The GURU is just a MAN... a guide... When a guide leads one astray, one can leave that guide and find another or walk the Path by one's self) But always know (show it and all will know...you can't show it, because you ain't got it!! ) that their love for you, your faith in them, is for a particular purpose and that only - to reach them. (to realize the ONE is not to reach the materialist, egotist, imperialist, nationalist, and bad Guru ... but to get away from him.) And if that is going on step by step, you must never falter in your faith, never doubt their love, or be unsure of their grace. This is the only way of testing your relationship with your guru. Am I one step ahead? "No, no, I want to be one mile…" Well, that depends on you, you see. "If I could be stronger…" We do not prepare people here for the marathon, and the decathlon, and for Everest. (Babuji said that it is better to have no GURU than a Bad GURU. If you are in "mid-stream" of LIFE, and your horse (guru) falls, you are allowed to "change horse" and to not adhere to the old saying: Never change horse in mid-stream!)

Babuji determines what should be our pace: "Yeh chaal kaafi hai tumhaare liye. Ham aage aage chal rahe hain, tum peeche peeche chalo. [This pace is enough for you. I will go ahead, and you follow.] Just follow me. That you want to go faster, does it mean I must run?" Babuji asks. "Nahin, nahin, Babuji. Please aap apne rate pe chaliye." "To phir tum pareshaan kyon hote ho? Kyon mujhe bhagaate ho, ki tum bhi saath saath bhaage? Main bhaag sakta hoon kya, yeh aisi baat nahin hai. Main ek chhalaang maarunga to Himalaya ke us taraf bhi pahunch sakta hoon. Tum pahunch sakte ho saath saath? To mera chaal usi gati par hai jisme aaplog santushti ke saath, bina pareshaani, bina koi khatra, aap hamare saath chal sakte hain. ["No, no, Babuji. Please go at your pace." "Then why are you worried? Why are you trying to hasten me? It is not a question of whether I can run; with one leap I can cross the Himalayas. Can you follow along? So, my pace is such that you can follow along satisfied, without worry, without danger."] The guru's pace is adjusted to our ability to keep pace with him, not the other way around. (BE FREE... Chose your own PACE. Become adults and BE spiritual and kind, compassionate and loving and helpful to one another. Don't gauge your pace, you thoughts, your life, you thoughts, by "OTHERS" not even a "self appointed" GURU)

And inevitably, even when we are a big group, he has to look after the least capable. (in the case of Sahaj Marg, and "religions" they marginalize and beat up the least capable) Isn't it? Like you walk with the baccha [child]. Husband walks - "Chale chal chal!" "Bacche aap sambhaal rahe hain kya?" ["Walk quickly." "Are you taking care of the children?]" Yeh to hota hai hur parivaar mein. "Bacche bhi main le loon. Handbag bhi sambhaaloon, purse bhi main rakhoon, aur aap chalte jaayiye. Kaise mard hain aap?" yeh koi poochti nahin hai aurat. Mard ka farz hai ki voh soche ki meri biwi kahaan hai? Saath chal rahi hai ki nahin, saath chal sakti hai ki nahin, aur apni gati, apni chaal uske saath, uske anusaar adjust karte jaye. Nahin karte hamare mard log. "Chalegi voh!" Nahin, yeh mazaak ke taur se keh rahen hain kyonki kuch hansi bhi ho jaaye saath saath. Lekin hamara purpose bahut hi serious hai. Yeh purpose ham haath se nikaal dein, chhod dein, to hamari jaan kya, hamari zindagi kya, hamara bhavishya khatre mein hai. [This happens in every family. "I take care of the children. I hold the handbag and the purse, and you keep going forward. What kind of man are you?" - this no woman asks. (No women of the INDIAN culture maybe, but in most other cultures, the women can ask what they want, without asking permission. I gues that is why so many women like Sahaj Marg ... that FREEDOM is taken away from them! ) It is the man's duty to look out for his wife: Where is she? Is she coming along with me or not? Is she able to come with me or not? And accordingly, adjust his pace to hers. (In the case of "saintly" Sahaj Marg, and the SRCM, those who disagree, or question the MISSION are "kicked out") Our men don't do this. "She will come!" I am saying this in jest so that we have a few laughs alongside, but our purpose is a very serious one. If we lose sight of this purpose, not only our life but our future is in jeopardy.] (in jeapardy because of the danger caused by "arrogant" and corrupt religious leaders who take their followers to "violence" (attacks on ashrams and dividing families) , in their and other countries.)

Bus, itna hi hamein kehna tha. Aap log sune, iske liye ham bahut prasanna hein. Aashirvaad. [That is all I wished to say. I am happy that you all listened. My blessings.]

The 9 O'clock Prayer... Uniting all Humanity!

One thing very important concerning world peace, concerning harmony, concerning peaceful existence, harmonious existence, happy existence - Babuji Maharaj has emphasized that unless we do this 9 pm prayer, the hope of uniting all humanity will never happen. Thank you.

The violent praying for PEACE. Gee that's a NEW ONE ... I guess the reason we don't have peace is because no one has ever thought of PRAYING for PEACE. No Christian has ever prayed, no Muslim has ever prayed, no Hindu has ever prayed, no Buddhist has ever prayed...etc..etc.. for millenia ...

There is no hope of SPIRITUALITY uniting humanity as long as SPIRITUALITY becomes ritualistic as religion and thus MATERIALIST (concrete, steel, money, parking lots, airports, more travel, more gas, more pollution, etc)
